Yazd is a centre of Zoroastrian culture. The city is located 270 km (170 mile) southeast of Isfahan. the population was over 1 million.

Because of generations of adaptations to its desert surroundings, Yazd is an architecturally unique city. It is also known in Iran for the high quality of its handicrafts, especially silk weaving, and its confectionary.

With its winding lanes, forest of badgirs, mud-brick old town and excellent range of accommodation options, Yazd is one of the highlights of any trip to Iran.
